The 3D Process
Modeling from 2-D
Using anything from hand drawings to architectural plans or CAD files, concept3D will create a realistic 3D model and include relevant embedded meta data or model detail. These types of models are used by architects during the design process, by developers during the building and planning phase, and by building product manufacturers for providing architects and developers with useful content in 3-D.
Dispenser Example
This example shows a Sloan Optima ESD-200-250 Sensor Activated Electronic Soap Dispenser. This 3D model was created from a CAD drawing (Figure 1). The modeler re-constructed the 3D model in Sketchup from the CAD drawing (Figure 2). The Sketchup model was then imported into a "finishing suite" to apply realistic textures, reflections and shadows (Fugure 3). The final Sketchup 3D model can be viewed here along with additional photo-realistic examples.

3-D Phototexturing
Using a process called phototexturing, concept3D will create a 3-D model of a property using actual photos taken onsite by one of our photographers. The resulting phototextured model will be an accurate representation of the property. It will also be georeferenced, so that the model can be placed in its actual location into an online 2-D or 3-D world (ie Google Earth,). Phototextured models have been used by property owners to market their properties, by brand managers to gain exposure within 3-D worlds, and by municipalities for planning purposes.
Building Example
The construction of the model of this building at 5151 Sentinel Building in Edina, was made mode easily with the availablity of a floorplan (Figure 1). A photographer took photos of the many surfaces of the building as well as three quarter shots, allowing the modeler to visualize the building (Figure 3). A wire frame of the building is constructed in Sketchup (Figure 2), then phototexturing is applied to create the completed model (Figure 4).
